Catechists – Sacramental Programme

The Sacramental programme catechists’ group has been running for more than 20 years, for formation of the faith for the young people in our parish.

We work in catechist groups, each with a group leader and helpers to guide the children through a 10 month preparation programme prior to receiving the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

We try to ensure the children and parents engaging with the programme feel welcome in our parish and are encouraged to enter fully into communion with the family of St Charles Swinton. Many children and parents have been encouraged to read during our celebration Masses – which adds to our growing readers’ rota

The past year we have participated in day retreats at the Marist Centre and displayed the work of the children in Church to deepen the faith of the whole parish.

Each year, we try to implement suggestions made by the previous year’s parents to develop the programme further and we work together with the school and parish to coordinate important steps in the programme.
