Greeters (Apparitors)

For over 20 years now greeters (also known as) apparitors have welcomed the congregation to the various weekend Masses – although personnel have changed over the years.

Each Sunday, at the 11 o’clock Mass, two greeters welcome parishioners and give out the weekly newsletters whilst a third, who is inside the church also welcomes, and hands out the hymn books.

We arrange for 4 people to collect the offertory monies and for this to be taken to the altar and on the odd occasion arrange for the bread and wine to be taken up to the altar also.

At the Saturday evening and early Sunday Masses there is only one greeter whilst an apparitor arranges for the collection to be organised and taken to the altar.

The retiring collection is also the responsibility of the apparitors, who arrange for the monies to be taken to the counting room.

We would welcome new members to to the group and in particular to assist at the Saturday 6pm and Sunday 8.45am Masses.
