Music Group

We are blessed to have music at the services and Masses at St Charles.

Musical accompaniment is provided by Liz Lord and the folk group – Anne Cotterill , Joan Burgess and Chris Payton. Anne , Joan and Chris play the organ at the three weekend masses – Saturday 6pm. Sunday 8-45 am and Sunday 11am and they share the responsibility for playing at parish funerals and weddings.

The congregation have a good reputation for singing led by willing singers at the front forming a choir.

Each month on the 1st Sunday at the 11 o’clock mass, Liz Lord’s folk group accompanies and leads the singing . This tradition was started about 30 years ago by Mark Condron who used to play the guitar at the 6pm mass. The group has developed over the years and now has a keyboard and various guitars and singers. Richard Yates works together with Fr Paul to select the hymns.

We are always on the lookout for new musicians to come along and join this informal setup. So all would be welcome – musicians and singers!
