Parish Money Counters

It was traditional in most parishes that a group of gentlemen were invited by the parish priest to count the offertory collection each week. With the introduction of “Covenant Committed Giving” and the subsequent Gift Aid tax relief schemes and a further tax relief scheme, it became more important than ever to record the money in the offertory. A substantial addition to parish income can be claimed from the Inland Revenue via thee schemes.

As a parish we have moved on and are no longer a male only group. We now consist of three ladies and four gentlemen and work in teams of two for security reasons. The work involves a commitment of approximately sixty or seventy-five minutes each time a team counts.

Father Paul is very flexible with us as to when a count is undertaken and supplies a cup of tea/coffee whilst we go about the task in hand.

We would very much appreciate additional volunteers to lighten the frequency we currently operate. So please think about doing this simple but rewarding work with us.

We would finally like to thank the parishioners who have helped over the years and who for various reasons can no longer do this work.
