St.Vincent de Paul (SVP) Group

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation whose main purpose is to seek and find those in any kind of need and to offer them help through practical assistance and/or befriending.

Within the parish, we visit the housebound elderly and those in local care homes, and we have also provided emergency financial assistance to local families. In the summer, we host an afternoon tea for seniors in the parish garden and, at Christmas, we take our elderly parishioners a Christmas gift. We are partnered with the SVP in Sudan and have made a donation to help their work. We have also shared our resources with St John’s SVP in Burnley, who are supporting 10 refugee families.

There are leaflets at the back of church with further details and there is further information online at https://www.svp.org.uk/ .

Anyone in need can contact us on our dedicated phone number (0743 451 3732), via Father Paul/Father Gavin or any of our members, or via the website. All personal information is treated in strict confidence.

We welcome new members. Please speak to Richard Yates/John Noone or to Fr Paul.
